Round 2; [Action/Written]

[Bolin’s been in Luceti for about a month now, and it’s starting to really hit him that he’s trapped here. He hasn’t seen Mako in a month when he’s used to seeing his brother every day. Plus now with Asami gone home he’s trying to be happy that she’s somewhere that’s moderately safer. So he’s been keeping busy, and has also turned avoiding Tahno into a professional sport after the messy events of the amnesia event. So he’ll be away from House 58 for most of the day.]

[In the morning he’ll be training at the battle dome since he figured out how to set up a basic pro-bending training program. Basic stuff like working on his reaction time and accuracy with the earth discs. He hasn’t played a proper game in so long he doesn’t want to get rusty. Getting used to the power restriction Luceti has in place makes it more important that he get back to his old level of strength.]

[The afternoon will be spent still avoiding hanging around the house because he is terribly mature. He’ll be wandering around the village doing various things. Lunch at the pizzeria. Browsing around the item and clothing shops will result in him finding his and Pabu’s circus outfits. He may or may not be wearing that totally rad mustache home. Spoiler: He totally is. Anyone is free to stop and admire this fine example of false manly facial hair.]

[In the evening Bolin finally lets himself think about his time away from home, and why the memory loss event bothered him as much as it did. He missed having Mako around.]

It’s probably kinda selfish of me to be jealous that one of my friends got to go home, even though she’s going back to some really chaotic stuff. I know it’s not a good idea to wish anyone into this kind of place but I’m just- Man this is hard to get out.

I know I’m definitely not the only person here who’s missing someone. My brother almost always had my back, it’s weird not having him around all the time to look out for me.

I guess what I wanted to ask was how you deal with that. With knowing you might not see your family for a long time because you’re stuck here.

Honestly? There's no easy answer. When I was first here, my sister didn't show up for a few months after I did. I missed her, but I didn't have any clue what kind of place this really was. But it's been nearly three years since I've seen my dad. I don't think I'll ever deal with it. I just know that he's still there and safer than I am. It sort of helps.

But I'm kind of luckier than most people. I've had family almost my entire time here. Most people don't have that.

So it's pretty much a try not to let it bother you situation? I probably should have expected that.

There is no easy way to 'deal' with it, really. The best advice I can give is try to build a new family out of the friends and people you meet here. It won't be the same, but it can give you the support you miss.

I've got friends here, it's just... not really the same. Mako's the only family I've had for years.

[Aang managed to spot Bolin from a distance while he was training in the morning. He was too focused to try getting his attention, but he did notice that he seemed to be going in the direction of the Dome. So the Avatar will be showing up at some point during the tail end of Bolin's training session to check up on him.]

[The final part of his training has Bolin dodging and bending a number of earth discs coming at him. He does pretty well for the most part until one disc catches his should and knocks him down, ending the simulation.]

I miss everyone at home, but I guess it's easier 'cause of all the family I have here.

[ You know. The...dead-in-the-future guys. Also her GranGran, who is apparently in a club of one for the living.

Still, it'd be hard to deny that Ikki misses the family who isn't here, even if meeting people she'd heard about her whole life makes up for it in some ways. Keeping busy means she usually doesn't give herself time to mope, though. ]

Mmm. Mostly I think about happy things if I start to get sad, or I find something else to do! You can join the art club, Bolin, you know! Or you can come and see Soren and I! An' you should sign up for school, too, an' I'll let you sit by me. An' just remember that we've got lots of friends an' family around, even if they're not your brother!

[Wow, he feels kind of bad unloading all of that once Ikki replies. He didn't want to make her think of sad stuff like that, so he decides to switch up the mood a bit.]

...School? I'm not sure I'm very qualified for that, kiddo.

I should probably try and focus on that more, it's just hard sometimes.

[That sounds really cold at first. Bolin still doesn't get how people won't notice people going missing for long periods of time.]

But that doesn't stop me from missing them.

My friends here help me to feel better. And back home, we aren't considered missing.

But how does that even work? Why doesn't anyone notice?

Friends help. [A lot in Vivi's case, since here she's able to spend time with the good friends she's been separated from back home. It's sort of a trade-off. But she hasn't spoken with Bolin yet, and doesn't know his circumstances.] Are there others here from your home? People you know?

[She gives an encouraging smile.] Of course, there are lots of new friends to meet here, too.

I agree with what everyone else has said. Friends do make things better. [Not perfect. Just better.] For me though, I didn't get to see my parents a lot because I had to move away from them for my job, and I don't have any siblings, so I'm used to not having family around. It's probably a lot harder for you.

That sucks, having to move away from your parents. [He definitely knows the feeling of missing parents, though he's glad she still has hers. Even if they're in another world.] I'm really glad I have my friends around, though.

It's very hard. I miss a lot of people from home, especially one person--but I know he wouldn't want me to be sad, even though he's not here. And I have friends here too, and I don't want to make them worry about me. So I try to be happy for all of them.
